In a heartening display of dedication to the future of peacebuilding and social justice, Kroc School of Peace Studies’ former deans Father William Headley and Patricia Márquez, have stepped forward to make significant contributions to student scholarships. Each has generously donated five-figure gifts to enhance student scholarship offerings at the Kroc School. Their contributions not only honor the school's legacy but also underscore their enduring commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the institution they helped build.
By supporting scholarships, former Deans Headley and Márquez are opening doors of opportunity for individuals who might not otherwise have access to such an education. This fosters diversity and inclusivity within the field of peacebuilding and social innovation. Moreover, the impact of these scholarships extends far beyond the classroom. Graduates of the Kroc School work in some of the most challenging environments around the globe, from war-torn regions to areas affected by social injustice, essentially investing in the future of peace and stability worldwide.
Dean Márquez shared, “To achieve peace and justice, we must support a new generation of courageous students eager to tackle the challenges in front of us. The world will not change without new ideas and responsible leadership. I contribute to scholarships with a smile, fueled by optimism for a brighter global future.”

In chatting about the scholarship, Former Dean, Father Headley recollected, "During the early days of my peacebuilding work when I was serving in conflict areas, I was often assisted by local persons. The Headley Fund enables some of them to train and return to their home countries, taking the knowledge they have gained from the Kroc School back with them. It is deeply fulfilling to give back and support the next generation of peacebuilders.”
