The following blog was written by Consuelo, a friend that the Crossing the Divide Practicum class made along their train journey.
"If you come with wars, I'll shake your hand and say peace!"
Kroc is a school located in San Diego, California, dedicated to the training and education of citizens who build peace and justice in our society.
"Crossing the Divide," a slogan that I love to imagine as a beautiful "human bridge" that spans the gaps that divide us, respecting and learning from differences, and strengthening and enhancing what unites us.
What a beautiful coincidence the Sunset Limited Train route gave us!!!
The play, "The Sunset Limited," is based on the confrontation of two contrasting ideologies faced by modern man, that is, atheism and firm belief in God. The debate between white and black in "The Sunset Limited" is the debate between believers and non-believers, between optimism and pessimism, and between hope and despair.
Gratitude to Sarah, the teacher of this group of young people, who honors Benjamin Franklin when he said: "Either we walk together towards peace, or we will never find it."
Thank you Sara and all your students (special hugs to Caroline), because through this experience "Crossing the Divide," you lead us to the poems of Amado Nervo: "There is something as necessary as daily bread, and it is the peace of each day; peace without which bread itself is bitter."
Looking at this photo we took when saying goodbye, I have to agree with Mother Teresa of Calcutta, with her quote: "Peace begins with a smile."
My heart is grateful for the peace we share, keep going on your journey, don't stop, this world needs you, because peace is the only battle worth fighting. McYunen
McYunen

The core of the Kroc IPJ mission is to co-create learning with peacemakers — learning that is deeply grounded in the lived experience of peacemakers around the world, that is made rigorous by our place within a university ecosystem and that is immediately and practically applied by peacemakers to end cycles of violence.
