Consider Making a Gift to the Kroc School This Giving Tuesday
Today is Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement, to encourage people everywhere to come together with one common purpose - to help others through generosity.
In this season of hope and celebration, help us develop more leaders who will make a difference in communities experiencing conflict, inequity, oppression and injustice.
At the Kroc School, students from all over the world acquire the knowledge and toolkits to shape a better world. Scholarships are essential for enabling students to become professionals of peace and they are deeply grateful to those who support their dreams.
Learn about one of our alumni who wouldn't be where he is today without contributions from supporters like you.
John Patterson ‘13 (MA) took an atypical path to become a peacebuilder. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 2004, John served as a Naval Officer overseas, then desired to balance his military service with an education in the theory and practice of real-world peacebuilding. He found this through the Kroc School’s Master’s in Peace and Justice Studies, and scholarship funding enabled John to advance in his career of service.
Since graduation, he’s gone on to apply his education and continue making a substantial impact for those in need in South America — most recently serving as USAID’s Deputy Team Leader for the Venezuela Regional Crisis Response.
In 2019, John was awarded the Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award by the Kroc School — watch his honoree video here.
The world needs more courageous doers like John, please consider making the Kroc School part of your holiday giving this year. Every gift—small or large—counts towards peace and social justice. Make your online gift by December 31st for the 2019 tax year.

About the Author
The Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (Kroc IPJ) launched in 2001 with a vision of active peacebuilding. In 2007, the Kroc IPJ became part of the newly established Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, a global hub for peacebuilding and social innovation. The core of the Kroc IPJ mission is to co-create learning with peacemakers — learning that is deeply grounded in the lived experience of peacemakers around the world, that is made rigorous by our place within a university ecosystem and that is immediately and practically applied by peacemakers to end cycles of violence.
